INVASOR

Officially rated the best in the world in 2006, Invasor was clearly an extremely special racehorse. He is by Candy Stripes (by Blushing Groom), a stallion standout in Argentina and renowned in the U.S. as the sire of 2005 Turf Champion, Leroidesanimaux. Invasor is out of a sister to graded winner Reina Vitoriosa, herself dam of a pair of stakes winners by More Than Ready (which suggests trying mares by that horse and his sire, Southern Halo). Invasor’s dam is from the male line of Good Manners, a genetic relative to the dam of Mr. Prospector. Good Manners and Mr. Prospector have combined very well, suggesting trying mares from that line here. Invasor is free of Northern Dancer, so from that sire line one might consider mares descending from Nijinsky II, The Minstrel, Danzig, Lyphard, Storm Bird/Storm Cat and Deputy Minister. From the Hail to Reason line, it could be worth trying mares that descend from Roberto and Stop the Music. Candy Stripes works well over Caro, and in the U.S. had a good stakes winner out of a mare by a son of Private Account (out of a Buckpasser mare). — by Alan Porter
