After three races were run, Aqueduct canceled the remainder of its Jan. 30 card because of high winds.
The announcement came at 1:47 p.m., minutes before the scheduled post of the fourth race, which would have kicked off the pick six featuring a carryover of $47,383. The carryover will now be offered on the Jan. 31 card.
Although the skies were clear, wind gusts of more than 50 miles per hour were recorded at nearby John F. Kennedy Airport. The forecast called for the winds to diminish later in the afternoon.
The jockeys were reluctant to ride after the first two races were run, and post time for the third race was delayed by eight minutes while the riders deliberated on whether to continue riding. It was the first weather-related cancellation at Aqueduct this year.
Aqueduct remained open for simulcasting.
