Memorette, a grade II-winning mare for Betty Currin, was retired following her third-place effort in the Jan. 26 Sunshine Millions Distaff Stakes at Gulfstream Park. The 6-year-old California-bred daughter of Memo is booked to Empire Maker.

Bred by Oak Tree Farm, Memorette scored her big win in the Beverly Hills Handicap (gr. IIT) at 4. Her other stakes wins came in that year's Fran's Valentine Stakes on turf and in the California Breeders' Champion Stakes at 2, when she was voted a Cal-bred divisional championship.

Trained by Currin's husband, William, Memorette won or placed in 18 of 32 races and earned $896,753. She will reside at Catherine Parke's Valkyre Stud near Georgetown, Ky., where her dam, Forever Fondre (by Shahrastani), also is boarded.

Forever Fondre is in foal to Leroidesanimaux.
