Jockey Corey Nakatani suffered a broken right clavicle in a training mishap at Hollywood Park the morning of Jan. 19, according to his agent Craig O'Bryan.
In a best-case scenario, doctors at Centinela Hospital estimated that the 37-year-old jockey from Covina could miss as little as two to three weeks, O’Bryan said.
Nakatani was working a filly for trainer Kristin Mulhall when the accident occurred. Mulhall said the filly suffered a broken right front cannon bone and was euthanized.
Santa Anita’s leading rider in 1995-96 and 1999-2000, Nakatani has five wins, four seconds, and five thirds from 54 mounts at Santa Anita through Jan. 18.
