Taylor Made Stallions released the details Jan. 14 of a new incentive program for both Northern Afleet  and Southern Image.

For the owners of approved mares, the Nicholasville, Ky., farm has created several payment options that vary with the stud fee to be paid. Both stallions stand for $10,000 with the fee payable by September 1, 2008.

For commercial breeders with approved mares who pay the $10,000 fee, however, Taylor Made Stallions will defer payment until the breeder has sold the resulting foal as a weanling or yearling.

For those who breed to race and pay the $10,000 fee, payment is not due until Sept. 1 of the resulting foal’s yearling year, which is 2010 for this breeding season.

Breeders with approved mares also have the option of paying $7,500 and paying either after the mare is sold in-foal or after the foal stands and nurses. No-guarantee seasons to both stallions are available for $5,000.

Northern Afleet (Afleet—Nuryette, by Nureyev) has sired 14 stakes winners and one champion, Afleet Alex, who was 2005’s 3-year-old champion. Northern Afleet stood for $15,000 last year and bred 64 mares.

Southern Image (Halo's Image—Pleasant Dixie, by Dixieland Band) also stood for $15,000 last year and bred 83 mares. His first foals will be yearlings of 2008.
