SCAT DADDY

2004 by Johannesburg-Love Style, by Mr. Prospector

A son of hot young sire, Johannesburg, Scat Daddy represents something a little new, as he is the first major stallion prospect by a grandson of Storm Cat.

Scat Daddy is inbred to Mr. Prospector 4 x 2, in both cases through daughters. As he is not a Mr. Prospector line horse, and as his Mr. Prospector strains will be 5 x 3 in the offspring, crossing Scat Daddy back over Mr. Prospector line mares will be entirely viable, and the Fappiano line should be particularly good. Johannesburg has the speedy graded winner La Traviata, who is out of a mare by Unbridled, and has three crosses of Mr. Prospector. Raise a Native through Alydar and Exclusive Native is also worth exploring.

With a double of Mr. Prospector, Scat Daddy should do well with Seattle Slew, including A.P. Indy, and similarly his double of Nijinsky II appeals with Blushing Groom. Some branches of the Hail to Reason line also look viable here, including Roberto, Stop the Music and Halo. — by Alan Porter
