Snow Ridge, a grade I winning second-crop sire, will move to Regal Heir Farm near Grantville, Penn., for the 2008 season.
The farm is owned by Dennis and Michele Madonna and Brad and Sue Jones.
Snow Ridge, who had been standing at Satish and Anne Sanan’s Padua Stables near Reddick, Fla. since 2003, will retain the same $5,000 fee he has kept throughout his stud career. The 9-year-old son of Tabasco Cat out of the graded stakes-placed Woodman mare Snow Forest, will stand as the property of Joe Davis.
Davis bought Snow Ridge privately after the 2007 season and originally planned to stand him at Moon Lake Farm near Elm Grove, La., but he now intends to send 20 to 30 of his own mares to the stallion at Regal Heir.
In 2007, Snow Ridge had 44 winners, including stakes winner Snow Way, from 66 runners. His progeny earned $1,271,134 through Dec. 21, with his stakes-placed juvenile daughter Banta Ridge leading the way, earning $83,000.
Bred in Kentucky by Mt. Brilliant Farm, Snow Ridge is a half-brother to stakes winner Pavarotti (by A.P. Indy), who will begin his stud career at Randy Hartley and Dean DeRenzo’s Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds near Ocala, Fla., in 2008.
