Deer Lake has been retired to stud at Foot Fall Farm near Palmyra, Ind., where he will stand for $2,000.

A son of Meadowlake, Deer Lake retired from racing with earnings of $356,980. Initially campaigned by Kathy Jo Stable, and then Amerman Racing, he finished his career in the colors of Stephen Fugitte.

Deer Lake scored his major win in the 2005 Holiday Cheer Stakes at Turfway Park. Racing from ages 2 to 7, he placed in five additional black-type contests, including a third in the 2004 Mr. Prospector Handicap (gr. III) at Gulfstream Park behind 2003 sprint champion Cajun Beat.

Deer Lake is out of the unraced Foolish Pleasure mare Dorothy Dear, who is a half-sister to multi-millionaire and 1988 champion grass horse Sunshine Forever (by Roberto). In addition to Deer Lake, Dorothy Dear is also the dam of stakes-placed runners Dakota Ray (by Our Native), Dear by Lear (by Lear Fan), and Not Now Bert (by Wild Again).
