The Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association of Ontario is the latest horsemen’s group to join the Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Group, which was established Dec. 5 to facilitate simulcast activities for horsemen and improve pari-mutuel economics.

The HBPA of Ontario board of directors voted unanimously Dec. 19 to join the THG, which now has 11 members associated with 39 racetracks in the United States and Canada.

“We are very gratified that HBPA of Ontario has decided to join the Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Group,” THG president Bob Reeves of the Ohio HBPA said in a statement. “Its board of directors and president Sue Leslie have supported us from the beginning. They recognize that simulcasting is a global business whose issues span national boundaries.”

THG member horsemen’s organizations include the Arkansas HBPA, Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, Florida HBPA, Kentucky HBPA, Louisiana HBPA, Ohio HBPA, HBPA of Ontario, Pennsylvania HBPA, Texas Horsemen’s Partnership, Thoroughbred Owners of California, and Virginia HBPA.
