Tattersalls Ireland Sale Wraps Up

The Tattersalls Ireland December sale wrapped up Dec. 18 when 158 broodmares and foals sold for a gross of 887,200 euros (about $1,277,500). The sale's second session produced an average of 5,600 euros (about $8,050) and a median of 2,600 euros (about $3,750).
An Elusive City colt out of the Pursuit of Love mare Champion Tipster topped the session at 25,000 euros (about $36,000) when purchased by Tony O’Callaghan’s Tally Ho Stud. The top filly was a 20,000 euros (about $28,800) daughter of Rakti out of the Zafonic mare Texture, sold to John Costello.
Texture herself sold shortly thereafter for 12,500 euros (about $18,000) to Spanish Stamina Turf. The Czech buyers and the Slovakian team from Autopravnova Racing continued their buying spree with a total of 15 purchases throughout the sale.
Cumulatively, the gross for 251 head sold during the two-day sale totaled 1,484,500 euros (about $2,137,500), while the average was 12,038 euros (about $17,325), and the median was 5,600 euros (about $8,050).
