Mrs. G. Rowland Clark & Usk Valley Stud's Zanzibar drew away in deep stretch to a seven-length win over Rosa di Brema in Sunday's Oaks d'Italia (Ity-I) at San Siro. The Michael Bell-trained 3-year-old daughter of In the Wings, out of the Diesis mare Isle of Spice, completed the 1 3/8 miles in 2:16.50 on good turf under jockey Michael Fenton.

Rosa di Brema finished a half-length clear of third-place Miss Meltemi, who was another half-length ahead of Tesoretta. Baranja was fifth in the 13-horse field.

The win marks the second in five starts for the Irish-bred filly, who won for the first time while making her seasonal debut at Leicester, England, earlier this month. She was winless in three races as a juvenile, including a defeat to subsequent Sagitta One Thousand Guineas (Eng-I) winner Ameerat in her racing debut. She was bred by the Milton Park Stud Partnership.
