The Racing Medication and Testing Consortium has hired Dr. William Muir as research coordinator and Hallie Roach as communications coordinator.

In his new position as a consultant, Muir will be responsible for preparing requests for proposals, developing and coordinating research advisory committees, ensuring progress of funded research projects, and developing potential funding streams for research priorities.

As communications coordinator, Roach will be responsible for promoting media coverage of the RMTC programs and enhancing communications between the RMTC and its industry-wide board of directors and advisers. She will be based in The Jockey Club’s Lexington office.

Muir, a Bay City, Michigan, native, has been directly involved in equine basic, applied, and clinical research for the past 37 years, and has conducted and published the results of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies relating to a variety of drugs administered to horses.

Roach, from Midway, Ky., served internships for the creative services department of the Cincinnati Reds, for the University of Missouri athletic media relations department, and for Keeneland’s communications department. She has been a sales representative for her family farm, Parrish Hill Farm in Midway, Ky., since 2001.
