Veteran jockey E.J. Perrodin had successful surgery at a Louisiana hospital Nov. 27 to repair a cracked pelvis, but still faces a lengthy recovery following injuries sustained last week at Fair Grounds.
“He’s coming along but he’s still in a lot of pain,” said Perrodin’s agent, Tony Martin, Nov. 29. “When I saw him (Wednesday), he was able to recognize me all right, but he’s on a lot of medication, so he was going in and out a little bit. It will be awhile before he’ll be going in the right direction again, but things are coming along good so far.”
Perrodin, 50, was injured when the filly No No Bad Kitty reared and subsequently fell on him prior to the final race Nov. 23.
