The Jockeys' Guild's first gathering of its membership since having filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection will take place Dec. 2-4 in Louisville, with an update on the financial and legal status of the organization expected from Guild leaders.

The assembly will provide members with an update on the state of the guild and a financial presentation and budget discussion. There will also be reports on membership, health benefits, and legal issues, as well as a report on the status of the Permanently Disabled Jockeys’ Fund.

A senate meeting, an election of board members, and two board meetings are included in the three-day agenda, which also includes guest speakers former jockey Pat Day, California Assemblywoman Fiona Ma, and racing executives Steve Sexton and Alex Waldrop.

Most of the assembly’s pressing business will be conducted Dec. 3, with the four guest speakers scheduled to make their presentations. On that day, scheduled speakers also include the Guild’s national manager Terry Meyocks, lobbyist Barry Broad, attorney Tom Kennedy, Dr. David Seftel, and bankruptcy attorney Lea Goff. The Dec. 3 session opens with a meeting of board members at 7 a.m., and the general assembly starts at 9 a.m..

The assembly, to be held at the Galt House Hotel and Suites, will open with a cocktail reception beginning Dec. 2 at 7:00 p.m. and is scheduled to conclude Dec. 4 at 11:00 a.m.
