The Nov. 27 opener of the Tattersalls December foal sale was topped by a Clodovil colt out of Inching, by Inchinor, bought for 60,000 guineas (about $130,000) by pinhooker Jimmy Murphy of Redpender Stud.

One horse purchased to race, a colt from the first crop of Avonbridge out of a half-sister to group II Flying Childers Stakes winner Wunders Dream, went for 58,000 guineas (about $125,000). He was purchased by agent Richard Frisby and consigned by breeder John Deer’s Oakgrove Stud in Wales.

For the day, 131 horses sold for 1,086,000 guineas (about $2.35 million), up slightly from 1,077,000 guineas for the corresponding session last year when 124 horses sold. The average was 8,295 guineas (about $18,000), down from 8,685 guineas last year, and the median was 4,000 guineas (about $8,600), down from 5,000 guineas in 2006.

The sale continues Nov. 28.
