Jockey E.J. Perrodin was thrown from his mount prior to the 10th race on Nov. 23 at Fair Grounds and was taken to a New Orleans-area hospital for observation.

Perrodin was aboard No No Bad Kitty when the 2-year-old filly reared up in the post parade, dropping Perrodin to the ground. The filly landed on Perrodin before running off. No No Bad Kitty was scratched.

The jockey was removed from the track on a stretcher, and taken by ambulance to Tulane Medical Center.

Perrodin has been a regular rider at Fair Grounds for many years. Last season, he finished 13th in the rider standings with 30 wins from 165 mounts. Perrodin, who will turn 51 next month, is closing in on 3,000 career victories.
