Dr. Janet Hoke of Tym Mar Farms in Plant City, Fla., presented Komen-Lexington with the largest donation the organization has ever received when she donated $53,600.00, 10% of the purchase price buyers paid for her fall yearlings consigned at three different sales this year.
Hoke made the donation in a presentation at Keeneland Nov. 16, during the ongoing Keeneland November breeding stock sale.
Komen-Lexington is the local affiliate of the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, a leading non-profit devoted to the research and treatment of breast cancer. Dr. Hoke, a breast cancer survivor, said she feels a deep dedication to helping others in their fight to defeat the disease.
