From Hollywood Park
Jockey Patrick Valenzuela returns to California for the first time in nearly one year Nov. 17 at Hollywood Park.
Valenzuela, 45, completed the paperwork for a conditional license Nov. 14 with the board of stewards. “He got his conditional license; everything has been completed,” steward Darrel McHargue said.
Valenzuela suffered broken ribs when kicked by his mount in the walking ring here on Nov. 26, 2006. He underwent subsequent knee surgery for a lingering injury and received clearance from his doctor Oct. 20.
Valenzuela launched his comeback Nov. 3 at Zia Park in New Mexico and rode three winners with 20 mounts there through Nov. 11.
Valenzuela is named on three horses at Hollywood Park: Suisse Movement in the second race, Caddymaster in the seventh, and Obrigado in the eighth.
