Simon Pure, a grade II stakes-placed son of Silver Deputy, has been retired from racing and will enter stud at Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds near Ocala, Fla. He will stand for $5,000.

Four-year-old Simon Pure won at Saratoga, Santa Anita, and Churchill Downs. This year, he ran third in the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (gr. II) at Saratoga to Diabolical and Attila's Storm, and was second in the Michael G. Schaefer Mile Stakes at Hoosier Park. Last year, he finished in the runner-up spot in the Northern Dancer Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. III) at Churchill and was fourth in Lawyer Ron's Arkansas Derby (gr. II).

A $665,000 Saratoga yearling, Simon Pure won or placed in 10 of 15 races and earned $274,382 for the Robert and Beverly Lewis Trust. Bred by Liberation Farm, Oratis Thoroughbreds, and CHO, he is out of two-time champion Life's Magic (by Cox's Ridge).
