Alinghi Has First Foal By Hussonet

Two country stakes winner, Australian-bred mare Alinghi, has produced her first foal, a filly by Hussonet in Australia. The foal was born at Arrowfield Stud in the New South Wales Hunter Valley.

Alinghi (Encosta de Lago-Oceanfast, by Monde Bleu) is a multiple Australian group I-winning champion racemare, who also won in the United States at graded stakes level. On the track Alinghi an ($80,000 yearling at the 2003 Inglis premier sale in Melbourne) won 11 races, including the AAMI Blue Diamond Stakes (Aust-I), Vinery Stud Thousand Guineas (Aust-I), Robert Sangster Stakes (Aust-I) and Seppelt Wines Newmarket Handicap (Aust-I) for AUS$3.5 million prize-money.

Hussonet (Mr. Prospector-Sacahuista, by Raja Baba) stands at Arrowfield and is currently sailing high in Australian estimates as the sire of Weekend Hussler, who just won his fifth consecutive race and second consecutive group I Nov. 3 in the Coolmore Stud Stakes. Hussonet's 2007 season fee is AUS$38,500.
