Padua Sells Interest in Curlin

Curlin, the favorite for Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old male after winning the Breeders' Cup Classic - Powered by Dodge (gr. I), is now down to three owners. Jess Jackson's Stonestreet Stables and George Bolton have acquired Padua Stables' interest in the son of Smart Strike  . Padua is owned by Satish and Anne Sanan. The Midnight Cry Stable of attorneys Shirley Cunningham Jr. and William Gallion owns the remaining interest.

Campaigned initially by Midnight Cry, Curlin won the Classic by 4 1/2 lengths over Hard Spun, with Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) winner Street Sense running fourth. Second to Street Sense in the Run for the Roses, Curlin then beat Street Sense in winning Preakness Stakes (gr. I). Curlin later won the Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I) over leading older male Lawyer Ron.

Curlin, bred by Fares Farm and produced from the Deputy Minister mare Sherriff's Deputy, has earned $5,102,800.
