Distorted Humor to Stand for $300,000
Distorted Humor now shares top honors with fellow stallions A.P. Indyand Storm Catwhen it comes to 2008 stud fee. His 2008 fee was boosted from $225,000 to $300,000, the highest fee announced this year. A 14-year-old of Forty Niner, Distorted Humor stands at Bill Casner and Kenny Troutt's WinStar Farm near Versailles, Ky. "Distorted Humor has set the standard for our stallion operation at WinStar," said farm president Doug Cauthen. "With his first crop to race, he was the leading freshman sire (by progeny earnings). In his second year with runners, he had a Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner (Funny Cide), and it's just gotten better from there. "He represents the model of consistency of a great sire. He ended 2006 as the leading sire of stakes winners in North America with 20." This year, Distorted Humor ranks first by number of stakes winners, with 20. They include grade I winners Any Given Saturday, Bit of Whimsy, and Hystericalady. "With five individual $1,000,000-plus yearlings at Keeneland September, coupled with his year-in, year-out success with top class runners, we feel he has found himself in a class alongside A.P. Indy and Storm Cat," Cauthen said.
