Came Home Headed to Japan

William S. Farish’s Lane’s End Farm has announced a purchase agreement to relocate second-crop stallion Came Hometo Japan. A three-time grade I winner, Came Home is in quarantine while undergoing the necessary tests to secure his purchase by the Japan Racing Association to stand at JBBA Stallion Station on the island of Hokkaido in 2008. Rollin Baugh acted as agent.

An 8-year-old son of Gone West  , Came Home has stood his entire career at Lane's End near Versailles, Ky. He was the highest-priced incoming stallion in 2003, at a fee of $40,000. This year, his runners include stakes winners Alina, Beautiful Venue, and Cajun Conquest, plus Saratoga grade II stakes-placed runners C P West and Passion. C P West ran second to Street Sense in the Jim Dandy Stakes (gr. II) at the Spa.

First in nine of a dozen starts, Came Home captured eight graded stakes and earned $1,835,940. His key wins came in the Pacific Classic (gr. I) and Hopeful (gr. I) Stakes and the Santa Anita Derby (gr. I) in his two years of racing.

Came Home stood for $25,000 in 2007.

A half-brother to grade II winner A. P. Assay, Came Home is out of the graded stakes-winning Clever Trick mare Nice Assay.
