Spendthrift Farm has hired Ken Wilkins as its stallion director.

Young stallion Malibu Moon, along with 2003 Bessemer Trust Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (gr. I) winner and champion Action This Day, have recently been added to Spendthrift’s stallion roster, joining Teton Forest and Don’t Get Mad.

“It is a new day at Spendthrift Farm,” Wilkins said in a statement. “I am thrilled to join Ned Toffey and Des Dempsey to be part of the future of a farm with the heritage and tradition that Spendthrift symbolizes. The addition of Malibu Moon and Action This Day really rounds out the stallion roster to give breeders excellent choices.”

Prior to joining Spendthrift, Wilkins served as director of stallion operations at both Stonewall Stallions and Vinery.  He is past president of the Kentucky Thoroughbred Farm Managers' Club.

Ned Toffey, general manager of Spendthrift Farm, said: “Ken has a proven track record in stallion seasons and acquisitions. He is an experienced guy with a respected name.  We feel he will be a great addition to the team here at Spendthrift.”
