Doncaster October Yearling Sale Ends on Upswing

Doncaster’s two-day October yearling sale closed with a turnover of 1,476,500 guineas (US$2,881,454), marginally up from 2006, when the catalog was significantly larger. The 6,152 guineas ($12,007) average was up 20% and the 4,000 guineas ($7,806) median was a 25% increase.

The top price of 60,000 guineas was for a Kyllachy filly bought by agent David Brown for owner Ron Hull, who campaigned the leading sprinter Moorhouse Lad.

“We have been delighted to reverse the trends set elsewhere at earlier commercial yearling sales and return improved figures across the board,” said Henry Beeby, Doncaster Bloodstock Sales’ managing director. “The improved figures are backed up by a clearance rate of 78%, which does not just reverse earlier trends but is in total contrast to them.”
