Sea Chanter unleashed a furious rally as the field turned for home to take the $250,000 Epitome Breeders' Cup Stakes over a yielding turf course at Monmouth Park Oct. 26.

European shipper Annie Skates finished second, with Grace and Power taking third in a photo. Bsharpsonata was fourth.

The winner returned $18.40 for the win, $8.40 for the place, and $6 to show. Annie Skates paid $5.20 and $3.80. Grace and Power returned $9.60.

Sea Chanter, ridden by John Velazquez, covered the one-mile distance in 1:39.1.

Trained by Todd Pletcher and owned by Robert and Janice McNair's Stonerside Stables, the daughter of War Chant   out of Charmer (by Easy Goer) laid off the early pace set by European-shipper Joffe's Run, who led the field through early fractions of :23. 3/5, :49.1/5, and 1:14.

As the field rounded the turn for home Bsharpsonata began to overtake the early leader, with Sea Chanter and Annie Skates fighting it out down the lane to the wire.

Joffe's Run was overtaken by the first three finishers when the field made its way down the straight.
