Out of Copelan mare Copelan’s Bid Gal, Namaste’s Wish finished far back in two starts to begin her career before scoring in a maiden special weight at Saratoga Aug. 31. The Bill Mott-trained filly followed that up by taking the Miss Grillo Stakes at Belmont Sept. 30 by three-quarters of a length in pace-stalking fashion.
Bred in Kentucky by Glory Days Breeding, Namaste’s Wish will leave from post four with Kent Desormeaux aboard.
Four other 2-year-old fillies have a pair of wins to their credit, including Sales Tax, Saki to Me, Grace and Power, and Bsharpsonata.
Sales Tax is a neck away from having three wins in four starts. On Sept. 29 the High Yield filly was narrowly beaten by Mike Ryan’s Grace and Power in the Holly Stakes at Meadowlands. Before that, Sales Tax won a pair of stakes, including the one-mile Junior Champion at Monmouth. Hamilton Smith trains for William Backer, as Sales Tax will have to overcome the unenviable post 12.
Grace and Power is two-for-two in her young career, having also won a maiden special weight at Delaware. Steve Klesaris will give the mount to Eddie Castro, who leaves from the rail.
Saki to Me is also two-for-two, opening her career with a pair of wins at Delaware Park. Owned by Morris Bailey, the daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus most recently was in allowance competition.
Clover Leaf Farms homebred Bsharpsonata is also by Pulpit . She is coming off of a convincing seven-length score in the Irish Sonnet Stakes at Delaware Park. Timothy Salzman trains.
The field also includes a couple of fillies shipping in from England, Annie Skates and Joffe’s Run. Both last raced in the Finnforest Oh So Sharp Stakes (Eng-III) at Newmarket Oct. 6, finishing third and seventh respectively.
Also to be considered is Life is Sweet, a Storm Cat filly who won by nine lengths in a maiden special weight test at Belmont Oct. 7.
The field is completed by Sea Chanter, Cato Major, Sammy Van Ammy, and Dagger. Post time is 3:15 p.m. EDT.
