Marciano Scratched from Delaware Stakes; Preakness Run Likely

Win More Stable's Marciano, who was entered by trainer Tim Ritchey in Sunday's Jock La Belle Memorial Stakes at Delaware Park, was scratched from the race and is now considered likely to start in the Preakness on Saturday at Pimlico.

In his most recent start, Marciano upset Burning Roma in the $145,000 Federico Tesio Stakes at Pimlico, finishing 1 1/4 lengths ahead of Talk is Money. The son of Two Punch also has won the $55,000 Herat and $75,000 Ambernash Stakes, both run at Laurel Park. The Virgina-bred has yet to win a graded stakes, though, finishing a well-beaten fourth in his lone graded stakes attempt, the Gotham Stakes (gr. III) at Aqueduct in March. Gotham winner Richly Blended arrived at Pimlico Sunday to finish his preparation for the Preakness.

While Marciano was scratched from the Delaware Park race, his stablemate, Citiroyal, was left in and rallied from last in the five-horse field to earn the 2 1/2-length win over American Prince. Cliff Diver was third, followed by Giant Gentleman and Tasty Caberneigh.
