James Tafel’s Street Sense, winner of the Kentucky Derby presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) and one of the favorites for next week’s Breeders’ Cup Classic - Powered by Dodge (gr. I) at Monmouth Park, will depart from Churchill Downs Oct. 18.
The Carl Nafzger-trained son of Street Cry is scheduled to depart at 5 p.m. (EDT) on a van that will carry him on an overnight ride to Monmouth Park. It will likely mark the final moments at Churchill Downs for Street Sense, who is not expected to return to the Louisville track after his race in the Classic Oct. 27.
Street Sense will be retired after the Breeders’ Cup and is expected to travel to Darley near Lexington following his race at Monmouth Park.
