Ben Rochelle, Co-Owner of Snow Chief and Very Subtle, Dies

Ben Rochelle, co-owner of Eclipse Award winner Snow Chief and Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Very Subtle, died of pneumonia Thursday in Beverly Hills. Rochelle, a native of Tulsa, was 91 and is survived by his wife, Diane.

Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Mount Sinai Memorial Park and Mortuary, 5950 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles. A private gathering at the Hollywood Park Turf Club is also planned.

Snow Chief won the 1986 Preakness during en route to earning an Eclipse Award as champion 3-year-old. The Mel Stute-trained son of Reflected Glory also won the Santa Anita Derby, El Camino Real Derby, Florida Derby and Jersey Derby.
