Trainer Doug O'Neill ships Super Freaky from California for the Valley View.

California invader Super Freaky carries a high weight of 123 pounds for the Oct. 19 $150,000 Pin Oak Valley View Stakes (gr. IIIT), and she’ll have to turn back several talented 3-year-old fillies to win the 1 1/16-mile event over the turf at Keeneland.

Trained by Doug O’Neill, the Smart Strike   filly has competed in a graded stakes race every month since her last victory. However, that victory came quite some time ago, in Santa Anita’s April 7 Providencia Stakes (gr. IIIT). She last raced to a disappointing ninth-place finish in the Senator Ken Maddy Handicap (gr. IIIT) at Santa Anita Sept. 26 for Suarez Racing and Alex Venneri.

Assigned two pounds less and coming off a slightly better performance in her last start is Team Valor and NeverTell Racing’s Audacious Chloe, who was third in the Sept. 1 Ontario Colleen Stakes at Woodbine. Trainer Todd Pletcher saddled the More Than Ready   filly to a three-race string of victories in the Feb. 25 Gaily Gaily Stakes at Gulfstream Park, the April 22 Appalachian Stakes at Keeneland, and the June 9 Little Silver Stakes at Monmouth Park. She ran ninth behind Panty Raid in the July 7 American Oaks (gr. I) at Hollywood Park before coming back to hit the board in the Colleen.

One formidable challenger carrying just 119 pounds is Pin Oak Stable’s Bachata, a daughter of Kingmambo. The H. Graham Motion trainee is on a four-race winning streak and set the course record for 1/16-miles at Monmouth Park in her last victory, the Sept. 2 Twin Lights Stakes. She proved she could run in stakes company in the Twin Lights; now she’ll have to step it up a notch as she makes her first start in a graded race.

The third-, fifth-, and sixth-place finishers behind Eclipse Award winner Dreaming of Anna in the Sept. 8 Pucker Up Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Arlington Park also come into the race. Bel Air Beauty, winner of last year’s Darley Alcibiades (gr. IIT), was third in the Pucker Up, Testama, winner of the Prix de Bagatelle Stakes in her native France, finished fifth, while Tom Proctor trainee You Go West Girl was sixth.

Adding intrigue to the field is Augustin Stable’s Long Approach, a Jonathan Sheppard trainee who has won her past three starts at Delaware Park – all going 1 1/16 miles – by a combined 14 ½-lengths. Lisa M, Lemonlime, Callwood Dancer, Stormy West,  Beautiful Venue, and You Go West Girl complete the field. Pitamakan and Jibboom are also eligibles.
