Donation, the dam of Lawyer Ron, along with her weanling colt by Smarty Jones , will be offered at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky selected mixed sale Nov. 4. Donation and her foal will be consigned by Four Star Sales for Bobby Trussell, according to a release.
Donation produced the Smarty Jones colt April 1, and will sell in foal to Distorted Humor .
Lawyer Ron has run the two highest Beyer Speed Figures of 2007 to date at races more than a mile. On July 28, he ran a 117 Beyer and broke a 33-year-old Saratoga track record in the Whitney Stakes (gr. I) In his next start, Lawyer Ron posted a 119 Beyer winning the Woodward Stakes (gr. I) by 8 1/4 lengths.
Lawyer Ron's next start will come in the Breeders’ Cup Classic - Powered by Dodge (gr. I), eight days prior to Donation's sale.
“Obviously, Lawyer Ron's performance this year has had a huge impact on the appeal of Donation and her foal. A win or top finish in the Breeders Cup Classic can only add icing to the cake,” Kerry Cauthen, Managing Partner of Four Star Sales, said in a statement. “Donation is a young mare and Lawyer Ron is her third foal to race. This Smarty Jones colt and her in-utero Distorted Humor foal have been bred for the classics, making Donation a prime foundation mare opportunity for breeders.”
Cauthen said Donation and her foal would be available for inspection beginning Nov.1 at Fasig-Tipton Kentucky, Barn 4.
