College students will receive free grandstand admission--a $10 value--to the Oct. 26 Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Monmouth Park, it was announced Oct. 15 by Breeders’ Cup and the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority.

Those who show their student ID to get in free that Friday will also be eligible to win $1,000 in scholarship funds and a $1,000 gift certificate to shop at the Manhattan-based Theory clothing and accessories stores. Five winners will be drawn during the afternoon.

This is the first time in the 24-year history of the Breeders’ Cup that the World Championships races will be run over two days. The Friday program at Monmouth begins at 12:30 p.m. Eastern time and offers 10 races, including three new Breeders’ Cup events: the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile, and the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint.

The college ID promotion is good only for the Oct. 26 Breeders’ Cup program at Monmouth. The four-day Breeders’ Cup Week meet at Monmouth concludes Oct. 27 with eight Breeders’ Cup races. First post is 11 a.m.
