Tinnitus, Dam of Champion Groovy, Dies

Major producer Tinnitus, dam of sprint champion Groovy and granddam of champion Boston Harbor, was euthanized on June 23 at Jim FitzGerald's Knockgriffin Farm near Paris, Ky., because of complications from the infirmities of age. Owned by P.L.D. Stable, she was 25.

Tinnitus (Restless Wind—Dors, by Corporal II) produced 16 foals. Groovy, her fourth foal, was champion sprinter in 1987 for John A. Ballis and the Prestonwood Stable of brothers Art, Jack, and J.R. Preston. Groovy earned $!,346,956 and stands at stud at WinStar Farm near Versailles, Ky. Boston Harbor, who raced as a homebred for William T. Young's Overbrook Farm, was produced from Tinnitus' stakes-winning daughter Harbor Springs. Boston Harbor was champion juvenile male in 1996 and earned $1,934,605. He is at stud at Overbrook near Lexington, Ky.

Tinnitus also produced stakes-placed Kentucky Jazz, Commander Dusty, and Dancitus.
