Jockey Eibar Coa won five races at Belmont Park Sept. 28. It was the first five-win day in New York for a jockey since Ramon Dominguez accomplished the feat April 13 at Aqueduct.
Coa won the second race with Inda ($3.90); the fifth with Dose of Reality ($4.40); the sixth with Anak Nakal ($37.80); the seventh with Oh Deanne ($19.60); and the finale with Heavenly Ballad ($5.60).
Coa completed the Sept. 28 card with a meet-high 22 victories and led Cornelio Velasquez by four wins.
Coa, 36, is scheduled to ride European invader Kavafi in the Sept. 29 Kelso Handicap (gr. IIT) at Belmont. His other important mounts over the stakes-packed weekend at Belmont are Factual Contender in the Sept. 29 Dynamic Lisa Stakes; Mission Approved in the Sept. 30 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational (gr. IT); and Mo Cuishle in the Sept. 30 Beldame (gr. I).
