Dawn Raid, a two-year-old filly by Vindication, set a 5 1/2-furlong Woodbine track record Sept. 27.

Bred in Ontario by Josham Farms Limited, Dawn Raid covered the distance in 1:03.37 over Polytrack. It came in allowance competition with jockey Patrick Husbands aboard. Out of the Bold Ruckus mare Embur Sunshine, Dawn Raid scored by a half-length and paid $3.40 to win as the favorite. She led from start to finish.

The bay filly was bought by Woodford Racing for $70,000 at the Keeneland 2006 September Yearling Sale. Mark Casse trains Dawn Raid, who won for the second time in as many starts. The first victory also came at Woodbine, a half-length maiden special weight triumph Aug. 16.

Dawn Raid has now earned $70,927. The previous track record was set in July of this year by Alvena, who covered the distance in 1:04.09.
