Grade I winner River Keen will stand in 2008 at Pine Nook Farm near South Deerfield, Mass. Formerly at Quiet Woman Farm near Germantown, N.Y., he will stand for $2,000.
“Relocating River Keen to Massachusetts provides breeders in the state a most unique opportunity—to breed their mare to a grade I-winning, millionaire stallion without having to cross the state line,” said stallion manager Renee Doyle.
River Keen, a 15-year-old Irish-bred son Keen out of the Caerleon mare Immediate Impact, scored his biggest wins in the 1999 Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I) and Woodward Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park.
River Keen has sired such allowance winners as Keen Lassie and Keen Spirit and has progeny earnings of nearly $900,000.
