Thewayyouare came from off the pace to capture the listed Criterium de Lyon-Prix Gan Eurocourtage at Lyon-Parilly Sept. 21.
The victory in the one-mile event marked the stakes debut of Thewayyouare, a 2-year-old half-brother to the "Iron Lady," Peeping Fawn.
Jockey Stephane Pasquier kept the son of
Kingmambo at the back of the pack as Sharp Marie led the field of nine at a decent clip through the early stages of the race. Thewayyouare roared to the front with one furlong left, and continued to draw away from the field in the final 100 yards to win by two lengths.
Luna Royale just got up for second, a neck in front of Without Precedent. Final time for the eight furlongs was 1:40.06 over the soft turf.
Thewayyouare is trained in France by Andre Fabre for owner Sean Mulryan.
Thewayyouare is the second foal and second stakes winner produced from the winning Sadler’s Wells’ mare, Maryinsky. Maryinsky is out of multiple grade I winner Blush With Pride, and is a half-sister to Better Than Honour, dam of Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winners Rags to Riches and Jazil.
