Joseph Allen's homebred Political Force will enter stud at the Hancock family's Claiborne Farm near Paris, Ky., at the conclusion of his racing career. The grade I-winning son of Unbridled's Song has won or placed in a dozen of 16 races.
Four-year-old Political Force is in the midst of his best season. Trained by H. Allen Jerkens, he won the 1 1/4-mile Suburban Handicap (gr. I) in the good time of 2:00.50 at Belmont Park and finished ahead of such top names as Lawyer Ron, Sun King, and Half Ours in a runner-up effort in the mile Metropolitan Handicap (gr. I) at Belmont. Political Force also placed in this year's Skip Away (gr. III) and Westchester (gr. III) Handicaps.
"Political Force was raised here at Claiborne, and we're extremely pleased to have him back to stud," said farm representative Bernie Sams. "We stood his grandsire, Unbridled, and now stand Eddington, another son of Unbridled, and that has worked well for us. You add the brilliance of this horse's family, and we see him as a tremendous prospect."
Political Force is out of the grade I-winning Glitterman mare Glitter Woman, whose grade I-winning half-sister, Unbridled Elaine, is by Unbridled's Song.
Political Force has won four races and earned $532,232. At 2 in New York, he finished second to Bluegrass Cat in the Nashua Stakes (gr. III). He is expected to run next in the 1 1/4-mile Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I) Sept. 30 at Belmont.
