Fleeting Spirit sped her way to an impressive win in the Polypipe Flying Childers Stakes (Eng-II) for 2-year-olds at Doncaster Sept. 14.
The Jeremy Noseda-trained filly was made the 5-4 favorite by the bettors, after having finished a good third behind Nahoodh and Visit in the Jaguar Cars Lowther Stakes (Eng-II) in August. Before that, the daughter of Invincible Spirit had captured the Betfair Molecomb Stakes (Eng-III) over Kingsgate Native. That colt upset a crack group of older sprinters in the Nunthorpe Stakes (Eng-I) in his next start.
Frankie Dettori and Fleeting Spirit sat just off the pace set by Captain Gerrard, and the pair shot to the front with a furlong left. The bay filly cruised to a comfortable 1 3/4-length victory.
Spirit of Sharjah got up for second, completing a double for the stallion Invincible Spirit. Cute Ass finished third, three-quarters of a length farther back.
Time for the five furlongs was :58.46 over the good-to-firm turf.
Fleeting Spirit is out of Millennium Tale, by Distant Relative. She was bred in Ireland by Bernadette Hayden, and is owned by The Searchers partnership.
