An equine practitioners in Morgan County, Ohio, suspects that five cases of red bag delivery within the past week--plus 10 pregnant mares that are now empty--could be the same thing that veterinarians in Kentucky are dealing with, according to Grant Frazer, BVSc, MS, Associate Professor at The Ohio State University. Morgan County is east of Columbus, Ohio. Frazer said that he has received calls from concerned veterinarians in addition to the one in Morgan County. Frazer is trying to discover the extent of the problem in Ohio.
At this time, veterinarians in North Lewisburg (near Cincinnati) and Lebanon (near Columbus) in Ohio report that they have not had any abortion problems above the normal number.
