Adena Springs South's freshman sire Indy King sired his first winner Sept. 11.

First-time starter Indy Joe won a $40,000 Delaware maiden special weight wire-to-wire against a field of nine other horses, widening his margin of victory at the end to 7 1/4 lengths. The bay colt out of Perfect Pearl (by Holy Bull) was bred in Florida by Adena Springs. Indy Joe was sold at Fasig-Tipton Spring Midlantic 2-year-olds in training sale for $15,000 by Domenico Zannino and is owned by Circle Z Stable, Joseph Masone and Mark Shuman. The colt is trained by Shuman.

Indy King is by A.P. Indy out of Queena, who is a daughter of Mr. Prospector. The young stallion, who didn’t race, was sold for $2.2 million as a yearling. He is a full brother to graded stakes winner La Reina and a half-brother to grade I winner and sire Brahms.

Indy King stands for $2,000 at Adena near Williston, Fla.
