Lane's End Has a Good Day; Tops All Consignors on Keeneland Sale's Second Day
It was a big day for William S. Farish's Lane's End at the Keeneland September yearling sale in Lexington. The Kentucky-based operation was Tuesday's leading consignor, with a gross of $19,620,000 for the 18 horses it sold. "Some of the numbers for the sale are down quite a bit, but we're not complaining," said Farish's son, Bill. "We had one of our best days ever." Lane's End sold 11 of the 19 horses that brought seven-figure prices Tuesday. They included a $3.7-million Unbridled's Song -- Secret Status colt that was the session's most expensive yearling. Lane's End also sold Tuesday's two top-priced fillies -- a $1.6-million daughter of Storm Cat out of Welcome Surprise and a $1.55-million daughter of Giant's Causeway out of Mayville's Magic. Lane's End's cumulative gross is $28,080,000, ranking it second to Taylor Made Sales Agency's total of $28,885,000 through the September sale's first two days. Lane's End has sold 34 horses; Taylor Made has sold 73. "It's been a good sale for us," Bill Farish said. |
