Three Industry Experts to Offer Sale Predictions: Results of Day One

The game is on: Three prognosticators, dubbed “the Hip Crowd,” will attempt each day of the Keeneland September yearling sale to select high-grossing horses in the 15-day, 5,553-hip auction.

Industry experts Deirdre Biles and Ron Mitchell of The Blood-Horse, plus a guest picker for each day, will each pick five hips (three for competition and two alternates in case of outs) from the next day’s offerings. A compiled list will be available on BloodHorseNOW.com and the in the site’s PDF newsletter before the sale commences each morning.

The three will select horses by poring over pedigrees, examining conformation, and often simply by expert hunch. Watch each day to see how each predictor fares. In addition to their new hip selections will be results from the previous day, their accumulated wins in the daily challenge, and their running total of gross sales.
