First day figures for Tattersalls Ireland September select yearling sale were down in comparison to 2006.

Sept. 4 saw the aggregate decline 6% to 5,757,000 euros ($7,848,921), the average drop 10% to 26,777 euros ($36,507), and the median fall back to 21,000 euros ($28,631). The clearance rate fell to 80% from 90%.

Over the day, 296 (252 in 2006) were cataloged, with 269 (229) offered and 215 (205) sold.

The top price of 150,000 euros ($204,506) was paid by agent Edward Daly, who lasted longest for a Danehill Dancer filly consigned by Ballyhane Stud. The filly, out of the Doyoun mare Daniysha, is a half-sister to 2007 Irish dual listed and group III scorer Danak, who subsequently finished sixth in the Arlington Million (gr. IT).

The filly will be trained in Ireland.

The only other yearling to break six figures was a Montjeu filly out of stakes winner Almond Mouse, by Exit To Nowhwere, bought by Robin O'Ryan for 110,000 euros ($149,971) on behalf of owner Stephen Hillen and British trainer Kevin Ryan. She was consigned by Knocktoran Stud.
