A son of Rahy topped the second day of the St. Leger yearling sale at Doncaster, England, when he was sold to Richard O’Gorman for 175,000 guineas. Consigned by Grove Stud, the January colt attracted plenty of attention, with Dermot Farrington the underbidder.

Nine horses brought six-figure prices, including three lots at 130,000 guineas.

After two days at Doncaster, 298 horses have sold for a gross of 11,005,100 guineas, up from 10,709,000 guineas for 300 horses during the first two days of last year’s sale. This year’s two-day average of 36,930 guineas is up from 35,697 guineas in 2006, and the median of 28,000 guineas is up from 27,000 guineas last year.
