Sam's Ace, who finished fourth to Barbaro in the 2006 Florida Derby (gr. I), will enter stud next year at Granite Falls Thoroughbred Farm near Granite Falls, Wash. He is owned by Aron Wellman's LGL Racing.

A 4-year-old son of In Excess out of the Meadowlake mare Queen of Pain, Sam's Ace won three of six races and earned $131,040. In the Florida Derby, he finished less than six lengths behind Barbaro.
