City Place, Songandaprayer Offspring Attracting Buyers' Attention at OBS Sale

This Songanadaprayer colt among those getting top buzz as OBS sale approaches.

Thirty-five yearlings sold for individual prices of $100,000 or more during last year's Ocala Breeders' Sales Co. August yearling sale, setting a record for the auction. Following are horses in Monday's select session of this year's edition of the Central Florida sale that consignors and buyers say have a chance to generate six-figure prices:

6. Chestnut colt, Songandaprayer  -- Meadow Dream, by Meadowlake. Consigned by Martin Stables South.
"He's big, grand, and very well-balanced," said Eddie Martin of Martin Stables. "He's got the Songandaprayer white (on his face) and the Meadowlake type of body."

12. Bay filly, Posse -- Miss Glitter, by Glitterman. Consigned by Marion Bloodstock, agent.
"She's a really, really nice filly," said Dr. Cara Erwin-Oliver of Marion Bloodstock of this yearling by a hot sire. "She's the most well-balanced filly I have, and she's actually the most well-balanced Posse that I've seen. She's a real 'scopey' filly with a big, pretty walk. She has all the right parts. She also has a very good mind on her. She wants to do the right thing."

19. Dark bay or brown filly, Spanish Steps-- Ms. Cuvee Napa, by Relaunch. Consigned by Martin Stables South.
"She's a very well-balanced, elegant filly," said Eddie Martin of Martin Stables. "She has a lot of class about her." Her half-sister, Tasha's Dream (by Harlan's Holiday), captured this year's Sorrento Stakes (gr. III) and another half-sister, Deb's Charm (by Silver Charm), was third in the 2003 Darley Alcibiades Stakes (gr. II). Yet another half-sister, Early Vintage (by Jump Start  ), was third in this year's Sweetest Chant Stakes at Arlington Park.

31. Dark bay or brown colt, Put It Back-- Nuvem, by Dynaformer. Consigned by Beth Bayer, agent.
"He's a tall, leggy, good-balanced racehorse kind of a colt," Bayer said. "He's been making some short lists." The colt is from the family of grade II winner Bold Summit and grade III winner Whimsy.

42. Dark bay or brown colt, Spanish Steps -- Poqito Polly, by Ogygian. Consigned by Martin Stables South.
"He's a cool, cool colt from a solid family," said Eddie Martin of Martin Stables. "Physically, he's a very 'typey' individual. He's kind of a Quarter Horse, speed-looking horse." His half-sister, Fiesty Countess (by Count the Time) was a grade III winner, and she produced grade III winner Rated Fiesty (by Exchange Rate  )."

62. Dark bay or brown filly, Forest Wildcat-- Scratch Paper, by Notebook. Consigned by On Course Sales, agent.
"She's a real nice filly, well-mannered," said Kimett Powell-Aldoff of On Course. "She has a great disposition. She handles everything real well. Her dam (a grade III winner) throws great babies; they're level-headed overall and a pleasure to be around."

75. Dark bay or brown filly, Grand Slam-- Sister Fiona, by Defrere. Consigned by Legacy Bloodstock, agent.
"She's just a really nice filly to be around," said Tommy Eastham of Legacy. "She's so consistent in her showing and attitude. She's got a great walk, and she's from a good family. She's a beautiful, beautiful moving filly." Her dam was a grade III winner.

101. Bay colt, Songandaprayer -- True Affair, by Believe It. Consigned by Summerfield, agent.
"He's a big, mature, very nice horse," said Francis Vanlangendonck of Summerfield. "He looks like he can go two turns without any effort." His dam was a grade III winner.

 111. Dark bay or brown filly, Silver Deputy-- Whispered Love, by Forest Wildcat. Consigned by Summerfield, agent.
"She's a very nicely balanced filly with a great walk from the side; she walks on out very nice, which is huge," said Francis Vanlangendonck of Summerfield." She's from the family of grade I winner Lady Love and her grade I-winning offspring Tantalizing.

135. Bay colt, Northern Afleet  -- Beat Becky, by Minardi. Consigned by Beth Bayer, agent.
"He's got the size, the substance, and the muscle," Bayer said of this colt, whose dam is a half-sister to Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I) winner Cajun Beat. Another colt to keep an eye on in Bayer's consignment is Hip No. 140, a son of Vindication out of the Mr. Prospector mare Bolsa.

167. Honey Graeme, chestnut filly, Graeme Hall-- Dance Delight, by Colonial Affair. Consigned by Southern Cypress Stable, agent.
This cleverly-named filly "has a big walk and stretch," said Mike Paramore of Southern Cypress Stable. She's a half-sister to stakes-placed Malandrina and her third dam, Legarto, was a champion in Canada.

175. Chestnut filly, Lion Heart-- D Hail Mary, by Defensive Play. Consigned by Summerfield, agent.
"She's a big, mature filly that looks like she should be in a graded stakes winner's circle," said Francis Vanlangendonck of Summerfield. "She's a beautiful, fancy filly. She's a good-sized filly with a large, large chest and shoulder."

 176. Gray or roan filly, Exchange Rate -- Disperse a Star, by Dispersal. Consigned by Summerfield, agent.
"This is a really nice filly," said Francis Vanlangendonck of Summerfield. "She's very balanced and a pretty horse to look at. Her sire has a newfound popularity; his 2-year-olds have been running well." Other Summerfield horses that are attracting a lot of attention include Hip. No. 63, a Malibu Moon  -- Sea Witch colt named Moon Magic; Hip No. 77, a Tapit  -- Skywriting colt named Sky Taps; Hip No. 78, a Yes It's True  -- Slick Lady filly, and Hip No. 121, a Harlan's Holiday-- Zealous Folia filly.

199. Bay filly, Roar of the Tiger-- Future Question, by Copelan. Consigned by Big C Farm, agent.
"She's a gorgeous filly," said Dick Wilson of Big C Farm. "She's got a big shoulder and a great top line. She's been received really well. Everybody seems to really like her. She's got a big, strong walk."

200. Dark bay or brown colt, Ecton Park -- Gal From Dixie, by Dixieland Heat. Consigned by On Course Sales, agent.
"He's a big, strapping colt," said Kimett Powell-Aldoff of On Course. "He's been received really well. People spend a lot of time on him (looking). He has really correct conformation, and he has a big walk. For as big as he is, he handles himself very well."

215. Chestnut filly, Speightstown   -- Holy Niner, by Holy Bull. Consigned by Beth Bayer, agent.
"She's a very nice, well-balanced filly that's correct," Bayer said. "She covers a lot of ground and has a really nice eye. She has a racehorse attitude."

218, chestnut filly, Lion Heart -- Hoxsey, by Deputy Minister. Consigned by Abbie Road Farm, agent.
"She is an outstanding individual," said Lisa McGreevy of Abbie Road Farm. "She is so correct and has a beautiful, long, gliding walk. She's pretty to look at, and she's also very smart. She's very well-balanced and has a huge hip on her." Another potential Abbie Road breakout is Hip No. 44, a Chapel Royal-- Power Gem colt.

222. Dark bay or brown colt, Lightnin N Thunder  -- Indydefendant, by A.P. Indy. Consigned by Bridlewood Farm, agent.
"He's a real star physically, a big, strapping colt," said George Isaacs, general manager of Bridlewood Farm. "He's real athletic and everything's in the right place. He looks like he should be able to gather himself up early and get ready for what he needs to do (at a juvenile auction or at the races)."

229. Dark bay or brown colt, City Place-- Kisses and Hugs, by Kissin Kris. Consigned by Big C Farm, agent.
"He's by a first-year sire that's really getting hot, and he's absolutely gorgeous," said Dick Wilson of Big C Farm. "He's big, strong, and good-looking. He's real racy-looking, and he's leggy." This colt's dam is a half-sister to stakes-placed Bernie B (by Marquetry) and his other family members include grade I winner Journey at Sea and grade II winners Whata Brainstorm and Ruler's Court.

248, Gray or roan colt, Songandaprayer -- Love Mia, by El Sultan. Consigned by Craig Wheeler, agent.
This colt with a big, strong physique is out of a mare whose half-brother was a Horse of the Year in Argentina.
