Les Bois Park Meet Has Double-Digit Gains

Capitol Racing at Les Bois Park wrapped up its 46-day live racing season Aug. 11 with double-digit increases in on-track attendance and handle.

During the meet, which began May 4, attendance at the Boise, Idaho, track averaged 1,875, up 25.12% from 2006, and on-track handle averaged $59,589, up 13.47%, according to a release from the track. Total attendance and on-track handle for the meet were 86,259 and $2,741,129, respectively.

Total handle on Thoroughbred races was $2,026,861, while Quarter Horse races generated total handle of $714,268. There were 275 Thoroughbred races and 102 Quarter Horse races.

Thoroughbred purses totaled $1,119,263, while Quarter Horse purses were $685,662. Total purses paid at Les Bois Park increased 3.29% from last year, officials said.

The 2007 season marked the second under the management of Capitol Racing, which previously operated harness meets at Cal Expo in Sacramento, Calif. During its long run at Cal Expo, Capitol Racing expanded the simulcast market for California harness racing and extended the live racing season.
