The Maryland Jockey Club lists 12 horses as possible entrants for the Preakness Stakes (gr. I), led by Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner Monarchos.

Other Derby runners listed include Congaree, Point Given, A P Valentine, and Songandaprayer.

The list of non-Derby runners possible for the second leg of the Triple Crown is highlighted by Withers (gr. III) winner Richly Blended, who is also under consideration for the Metropolitan Mile (gr. I).

Marciano, winner of the local prep for the Preakness, the Federico Tesio Stakes, is also listed as possible, along with Illinois Derby (gr. II) winner Distilled; Lone Star Derby winner Percy Hope; and Gotham Stakes runner-up Mr. John, who was disqualified from second in the Coolmore Lexington Stakes (gr. II).

D. Wayne Lukas, whose record 20-year streak of Derby starters was snapped this year, may enter Buckle Down Ben in the 1 3/16-mile Preakness. In his most recent start the son of Devil His Due finished sixth in the Turfway Spiral Stakes (gr. II). As a juvenile he won the 1 1/8-mile Laurel Futurity (gr. III).
